Patient Intake

Thank you for your interest in care with Vernon Midwifery. Whether you’re seeking full midwifery care or postpartum-only support, we’re honoured to be part of your journey.

Midwifery care

Full-scope midwifery care starting early in pregnancy and continuing through labor, birth, and the first six weeks postpartum. Includes:

  • Prenatal visits
  • Hospital birth support at Vernon Jubilee Hospital
  • Postpartum and newborn care
  • Feeding and lactation support
  • On-call access for urgent concerns

Midwifery care is in high demand and spaces are limited. We recommend submitting your intake form as early as possible – ideally as soon as you have a positive home pregnancy test. If we’re unable to offer full midwifery care based on your estimated due date, you may still be eligible for postpartum-only care (see below for details).

Postpartum-only care

Support during the early weeks after birth, even if you gave birth with a doctor, OB, or in another care setting. Includes:

  • Home or clinic-based visits
  • Newborn health monitoring
  • Feeding and lactation support
  • Emotional wellness screening
  • On-call access during the care period

This option is ideal for families who did not receive prenatal care from Vernon Midwifery seeking additional support after delivery .

After you submit your intake form

After submitting your intake form:

  1. We will review your information
  2. If space is available, you’ll be contacted by phone or email to arrange your first appointment
  3. If space is full, your name may be added to a waitlist

Submitting an intake form does not guarantee care. We recommend submitting as early possible, ideally as soon as you have a positive pregnancy test, as availability is limited each month.

Who can access care

Care is available to all residents of British Columbia with valid MSP coverage. Private care options are available for those not covered under MSP. We welcome all families and aim to provide inclusive, respectful care regardless of background, identity, or birth preferences.

If you don’t have provincial MSP coverage

If you’re not covered under BC’s Medical Services Plan (MSP), you can still access care by paying privately. We will provide clear information on fees and what is included. Please note this on your intake form so we can follow up with options.
